GUWAHATI:

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is on a two-day visit to poll-bound Assam to campaign for party candidates ahead of the Assembly elections in the state.

Gandhi reached Chabua in Upper Assam on Friday to address a public rally.

In his address, the INC leader said that the party will recruit special teachers to learn the Sadri language if it is voted to power in the upcoming elections.

"In addition to that, a special ministry will be set up in Assam for tea tribe people," Gandhi said.

Gandhi also criticised the BJP-led NDA government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for "failing" to fulfil the promises in the last five years.

"Narendra Modi launched 'Make in India' and 'Startup India' but, there is no product of India and Assam, only Chinese products. But we want to see Assam shoes, mobile, etc. If our party forms the government in Assam, we will make Indian products," he added.

"We will give free tuitions and free education of competitive exams for tea tribe people. We will also give five lakh employment to unemployed youths," he further added.

Gandhi is campaigning for Congress candidate of Chabua Ajay Phukan.
