DIBRUGARH:

A resident of Assam’s Silchar, Manobendra Chakraborty on Wednesday wrote a letter to the Cachar Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli seeking explanation after missing his vaccination date for the second dose of Covaxin.

After missing his second dose, which expired on June 5, Chakraborty sought scientific clarification from the government.

Speaking to TNT-The Northeast Today, 56-year-old Chakraborty said, “Because of non-availability of Covaxin, I and my wife could not be administered the second dose of Covaxin within the scheduled date. It is necessary to mention that the administration was aware of the citizens who took the first dose and it was their responsibility to arrange for the second dosage within the stipulated time period.”

Chakraborty added, “I need scientific explanation from the government after my due date which was missed because of non-availability of Covaxin.”

Chakraborty stated that because of the shortage of Covaxin in Barak valley, the life of everyone is at risk.

He further said, “I have already tweeted to the Prime Minister, Health Minister and Assam Chief Minister seeking their explanation regarding the matter.”

Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta admitted that there is a shortage of Covaxin in the state, but within this week it will receive 50,000 doses of Covaxin.
