Assam: Man arrested for stealing oxygen cylinders from AMCH, Dibrugarh

Police identified the person as Uttam Das, a casual worker at AMCH, who was caught after CCTV footage of Das committing the act was recorded.

DIBRUGARH:

A man was arrested for stealing oxygen cylinders from Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh on Friday.

Police identified the person as Uttam Das, a casual worker at AMCH, who was caught after CCTV footage of Das committing the act was recorded.

Sources informed that as many as 1,600 oxygen cylinders have been stolen from AMCH in recent times.

"Not only oxygen cylinders, PPE kits and other equipment used by doctors at AMCH have been stolen. It is a racket being run at the AMCH," said a source.

Meanwhile, the AMCH authorities have started an internal inquiry into the matter.

"In the CCTV footage, we found that a man was stealing oxygen cylinders from AMCH. We had referred the matter to the police and they picked up the man for investigation. We have also started our internal investigation." AMCH principal Sanjeeb Kakati said.
