Assam: Educational institutions in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia to remain closed from April 28

The decision was taken after the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases exceeded the 300-mark in the last 10 days.

DIBRUGARH:

The Dibrugarh District Administration, on Tuesday, issued a notification to close all educational institutions in the district from April 28 to May 12, 2021.

The decision was taken after the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases exceeded the 300-mark in the last 10 days.

"All the educational institutions (both government and non-government) pre-primary section to university level, including all colleges, university, coaching institutions and all category of student's hostel are hereby declared closed w.e.f April 28, 2021, to May 12, 2021," a government notification stated.

However, online classes will continue to function as usual.

Besides, the Tinsukia District Administration has also decided to shut down all educational institutions for 15 days with effect from April 28, 2021.

Earlier today, the Assam Government had also imposed a night curfew in the state from 8 pm to 5 am, given the COVID situation.
