DIBRUGARH:

Congress candidate Rajkumar Nilanetra Neog filed his nomination papers for the Dibrugarh constituency at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office on March 9.

Talking to reporters, Neog said he will solve the water-logging problem of Dibrugarh if voted to power.

“I will construct the drains properly to solve the water-logging problem. In the last 15 years, BJP MLA Prasanta Phukan did not solve the decade-old problem of the town. I will prioritise the issue.”

Neog had joined the Congress party in 1992 as a National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) member in Cotton College.

Neog also criticised the BJP for failing to control the price rise of essential commodities.

“Our party has come up with 5 guarantees for the voters. If our party comes into power, then we will increase the wages of tea workers up to ₹ 355,” Neog said.

Notably, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has dominated the Dibrugarh seat since 2006.
