GUWAHATI:

The Assam Congress is holding a series of virtual meetings with district Congress committee presidents and party candidates to devise a strategy to help people in the districts overcome the COVID-19 situation.

AICC general secretary in charge, Assam, Jitendra Singh and Rajya MP and Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Ripun Bora held marathon sittings with the DCC presidents and candidates on Monday and Tuesday to strategise plans and programmes to help people mitigate their problems in these trying times.

On Monday, the meetings were held with the committee presidents/candidates of Upper Assam and north Assam districts while on Tuesday, discussions were held with the presidents and candidates of the hills and lower Assam districts.

The meetings also considered the various problems faced by people in hospitals and containment zones and the grave problems faced by people in getting through the process of online registration for vaccination.

The AICC general secretary and APCC president urged the Congress party members in their respective districts to help people in the fight against COVID.

“Such meetings with the district chiefs and candidates will continue on Wednesday as well to cover all district Congress committees,” a statement by Assam Congress issued here on Tuesday informed.

It may be mentioned that a central COVID control room was set up at Rajiv Bhavan on April 27, 2020 by APCC to extend all support to those in need during the pandemic.
