Assam CM targets to inoculate 30 per cent population by Aug 15 

Currently, the state has 20,000-25,000 vaccine doses for people in the 18-44 years age group.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Sunday, informed that the government is making continuous efforts towards vaccinating 30 per cent of its population by August 15, if vaccines are available. 

CM Sarma further affirmed that the vaccine manufacturers of Covishield and Covaxin have agreed to supply seven lakh doses of vaccines in June for the 18-44 age group. 

Currently, the state has 20,000-25,000 vaccine doses for people in the 18-44 years age group.

“The two companies have promised to send seven lakh vaccines for this group in June, but they could not say any date,” CM Sarma stated.

“The state is aiming at vaccinating 30 per cent of its population by August 15 provided we get the required doses,” he added.

Sarma also informed that the vaccination is likely to rise by 30 per cent in June compared to May, further rising by 50 per cent in the month of July.
