Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday reviewed the flood preparedness and COVID-19 situation in Lakhimpur district.

Chief Minister Sarma directed the district administration to take swift action for relief and rescue of affected people.

He also asked Deputy Commissioner Sumit Sattawan to take steps for releasing financial help and to repair institutional buildings damaged by floods according to the new financial power delegated to the DCs.

Chief Minister Sarma while taking stock of the flood caused by the release of water from Ranganadi dam, he asked North East Electrical Power Corporation (NEEPCO) officials to activate the manual system necessary for early warning of flood.

To boost the fight against COVID, the Chief Minister directed the Health Department to intensify the vaccination drive to cover the targeted population.
