Assam CM inaugurates Academic session of Diphu Medical College

DIPHU: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the 1st Academic Session 2021 of Diphu Medical College (DMC), on February 2.

In an attended public meeting held, the Chief Minister welcomed the first batch of 100 students which was attended by members of the public and medical fraternity.

Chief Minister Sonowal said, “Today a 100 students have taken admission for MBBS and I welcomed you all. There is no shortcut to success and you will have to work hard. This medical college has been established with a lot of struggles.”

“I am blessed to be a part in the planning, funding and building the medical colleges in Borpeta, Tezpur, Jorhat and Diphu. Getting the MCI to come and seeking approval, particularly in a place like Diphu, building a medical college was difficult. In discussion with the Chief Minister, we took a decision in the cabinet for creation of jobs, and other facilities while bringing up the college.” said Health & Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Minister, Hills Area Development (HAD), Sum Ronghang said, “I thanked the Chief Minister and Health Minister for the medical college in Diphu. Now that there is a medical college, I request the Chief Minister for introducing a Science stream in more colleges in Karbi Anglong.”

Chief Executive Member (CEM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang, thanked the Chief Minister and Health Minister for the establishment of the medical college and for the development in the hill district while welcoming the students.
