Assam CM Himanta reviews schemes of finance dept

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday directed officials to accord high priority to any file related to health in order to augment the state’s fight against the pandemic.

Reviewing the schemes of the finance department here, Sarma asked the officials to expeditiously release funds for all the welfare schemes.

Besides, the Chief Minister directed the finance department to include more eligible beneficiaries under the ambit of the Orunodoi scheme apart from releasing funds under the Swami Vivekananda Assam Youth Empowerment (SVAYEM) scheme.

The Chief Minister further asked principal secretary, finance, Samir Sinha to take a lead in assessing the existing vacancies in different government departments to take pragmatic steps for recruiting one lakh youths in government jobs.

He also directed the finance department to undertake extensive evaluation on the volume of loans provided by micro-finance institutions to enable the government to prepare a realistic roadmap for the waiver of loans.
