Assam: Bomb threat in flight at Silchar Airport turns hoax

A bomb threat on a SpiceJet flight that landed at Silchar Airport after taking off from the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport here on Tuesday afternoon turned out to be a hoax, official sources confirmed later.

“A bomb threat slip was detected under a seat at the rear end of the aircraft (flight number SG 8152) around 2.15 pm,” an AAI official here said. 

109 passengers had arrived on the flight.  

“Considering the threat, all agencies were alerted and, as per the standard operating procedures, started informing concerned teams. Passengers were immediately stopped from exiting the arrival lounge. A BTD team at Silchar Airport was activated, Assam Police was also informed,” he said.

The administration and the concerned SP also arranged the security check up.

A bomb detection and disposal squad carried extensive checks of the aircraft and after hours of all procedures, checking was completed at around 7.45pm. 

“The same flight was cleared to take off from Silchar (with 66 passengers) to Guwahati en route to Delhi after all checks and clearances at 9pm.
