Assam: Anti-talk faction of KPLT declares six months unilateral ceasefire

The anti-talk faction of Assam-based outfit - Karbi People’s Liberation Tigers (KPLT) has declared a six-month unilateral ceasefire with the government, the outfit said in a press communique on Monday.

As per the release issued by KPLT Commander-in-Chief Jio Tungjang, “Centre and state governments have given the opportunity to all outfits to join the mainstream for the overall development of all Karbi people.”

Furthermore, the statement said, “Taking this opportunity, we the KPLT decided to join the mainstream and accordingly we declare Unilateral Ceasefire for a period of six months w.e.f. January 31, 2021,”

The pro-talk faction KPLT had declared a unilateral ceasefire with effect from October 20, 2016.
