DIBRUGARH:

Sivasagar police arrested 14 persons on Thursday in connection with the abduction of three ONGC employees.

"It was a handy work of Ulfa(I) group. We have arrested 14 persons on Thursday in connection with the abduction. The 14 persons worked as the ground worker of Ulfa(I)," Sivasagar SP Amitava Singh said.

Security forces have intensified counter-insurgency operation against the rebel outfit but could not trace the whereabouts of the three ONGCL employees who were abducted on April 21.

Assam police Special DGP GP Singh on Friday strongly condemned the abduction of three ONGC employees by the Ulfa(I).

"Use of ambulance by Ulfa(I) for kidnapping the ONGC employees especially during (a) pandemic is reprehensible and a stain on humanity," GP Singh said.

Singh also stated that despite such act by the Ulfa, no instruction to routinely check ambulances has been issued.

He urged the civil societies to voice against such "inhuman cat" by the outlawed rebel outfit.
