A former Block Development officer (BDO) and two others were arrested on Friday, June 18, for allegedly torturing an 11-year-old minor girl at their residence in the Cachar district of Barak valley.

The BDO Moti Mazumdar, Atabur Mazumdar and Munna Mazumdar were arrested from their residence.

A video had surfaced on social media where Moti Mazumdar and other accomplices were seen torturing the minor after she refused to work as domestic helper in their home.

Following the incident, the victim's father filed an FIR at Silchar police station and on the basis of the FIR, police arrested the accused.

According to the FIR, the minor was going to her maternal uncle's place but suddenly Moti Mazumdar came and forcefully took the girl to his house for engaging her in domestic help.
