Assam: Arms smuggling racket busted in Karimganj; 2 arrested

The apprehended persons, along with the seized arms and ammunition, have been handed over to Badarpur Police Station for further investigation.

DIBRUGARH:

An arms smuggling racket was busted in a joint operation conducted by the Border Security Force (BSF) and Badarpur Police at Karimganj district of Assam, on Monday.

Two persons - Nurul Islam (31) and Henow Liang Khiamn (22) were arrested in connection with the case.

“We have seized a consignment of arms, including four pistols, four magazines, and one pen pistol during the operation,” said the BSF in a press statement.

“Acting on specific inputs from BSF (Intelligence Wing), a special operation was launched by BSF troopers and Badarpur Police on Monday and busted the arms racket,” the statement read.

The apprehended persons, along with the seized arms and ammunition, have been handed over to Badarpur Police Station for further investigation.
