18 students of Gauhati University test positive for Covid

GUWAHATI:

Eighteen students of Gauhati University tested positive for Covid-19, an official of the National Health Mission (NHM) said here on December 13.

“Twelve students tested positive for Covid-19 today. Earlier, six cases were detected,” he said, adding that of the 18, 12 students are from hostels - AT 9 and AT 8, four are from RRC6, and one each from AT 2 and AT 3, he added.

Confirming that, so far, no cases of Omicron have been detected in the state, the official informed that the swab samples of all the 18 affected have been sent to Kolkata for genome sequencing.

On December 12, Assam registered 22 new cases taking the total number of cases in the state to 6,18,575 as per an NHM bulletin.
