Two arrested with heroin worth Rs 53 lakh in Arunachal Pradesh

Police arrested two individuals and seized heroin weighing approximately 269 grams from their possession in Kimin circle, Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday.

Police estimate the seized drugs to be worth Rs 53 lakh. They also identified the duo as Jiten Biswas (33) of Parwatipur village in North Lakhimpur, Assam, and Uttam Nath (27) of Jajapur Anizara Para, Assam.

Biswas, a kingpin of the interstate heroin business, was wanted for several offences in both Arunachal and Assam.

Special investigation team (Crime) SP Rohit Rajbir Singh said that they hope that with the arrest, they would be able to control the interstate drug trade.

“This is one of the biggest achievements to be ever made by the state police, as a lot of hard work was put in by the SIT team,” Singh said.
