Tete-a-tete with Arunachal’s independent artist Chorun Mugli

FEATURE: Let us set sail on this year’s musical journey, as we travel across the seven sisters to unearth the hidden talents we may have come across, or heard their soothing melodies, but have not been introduced to.

From the Land of the Rising Sun, TNT-The Northeast Today brings to you a singing sensation who has been a heartthrob among the people in Arunachal Pradesh.

Much to his credit, his debut single was quite a hit and received an overwhelming response from music lovers across the nation, which truly justifies that music has no language, and goes beyond barriers.

Let us know from the talented musician, singer, composer, independent artist, from Arunachal Pradesh, Chorun Mugli.

TNT: Talk us through how you first developed your musical interest?

CM: I developed my interest in singing when I was in 2nd standard. I used to perform in assembly programmes and it gradually turned my passion and started getting recognition from family and friends.

TNT: Tell us about your song Kala Kala, which we believe was quite a hit! How was the response from the people?

CM: Kala Kala is my first debut single, and the song tells about the beauty of my land and also inspires the youth to thrive in life. The responses I received were overwhelming, which I did not expect, and it has made me realise that Music has no language barrier.

TNT: How many songs have you produced so far?

CM: I have produced two originals, i.e. Kala Kala and Tolo Kudula.

TNT: What does Tolo Kudula speak about? How did this song come about?

CM: Tolo Kudula means “To see above”.

This song describes about the entire one-day trip observation of a traveller, in which the traveller describes the scenic beauty and is amazed by the length of the river Telling, I have started the journey from sunrise till the stars and made its presence by glittering into the sky, from mountains to plains and here I am still wondering the length of the river didn’t meet its end yet !!

TNT: What’s cooking?

CM: Right now I am working on my Debut EP titled “Real”, comprising four tracks of which “Tolo Kudula” has been released recently.

TNT: How has your musical journey been so far?

CM: It has been a beautiful journey. The love I got from people is immense, and the opportunity to work with talented musicians from different genres has been the icing on the cake.

TNT: Tell us about your most favourite performance! Anything special about it?

CM: When I performed at my college event while sharing the stage with Papon. It was special because the crowd was from the length and breadth of the country; the crowd was thoroughly singing and enjoying my performance.

TNT: What songs do you write about?

CM: My songwriting has never been confined to a specific type. It has kept on changing with different songs such as praising nature to depicting societal issues like body shaming.

TNT: Apart from music?

CM: I attend college, being a student the assignment work is usual.

TNT: What is your source of inspiration?

CM: The unconditional love that I get from people is what I consider the major source of my inspiration.

CM: Keep following your dreams and never stop believing in yourself.
