ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh has lifted the ban on the sale of pork and transportation of pigs in the state, with certain restrictions.

The state's veterinary department is closely monitoring the sale of pork in the state, and transportation of pigs for any possible outbreak of swine diseases.

The department also informed that there has been no reported outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) during the last three months.

While lifting the ban, the department has asked suppliers and butchers to adhere to the SOPs.

Also while allowing the intra- and inter-district transportation of pigs, the sale area should not be close within the 3km radius of the notified epicentres in the state.

Earlier on April 29, 2020, the Arunachal Pradesh government had banned sale and transportation of pigs due to the detection of ASF in the state and in Assam.
