Arunachal Pradesh: Eight NSCN cadres surrender before security forces

Eight cadres belonging to various factions of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) surrendered before security forces in Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday.

According to official sources, the cadres include self-styled Lance Corporal Nyaipho Gangsa (33), Private Bowgang Gangsa (38), Sergeant Wangkiak Wangsa (25), Private Alem Wangpan (30), Private Banthak Wangpan (32), Sergeant Khuapoh Wangpan (27), Corporal Nokthat Wangpan and Wangjep Wangsu (27).

“The NSCN cadres were involved in extortion related activities. With the concerts efforts of security forces, they have surrendered. We hope that many more NSCN cadres will surrender soon,” said a police official.

The various factions of NSCN include Isac Muviah, Reformations, Unifications, and the Khango Konyak and Khaolang Yung Aung - both having split from the Khaplang faction.

Arunachal Pradesh shares its boundary with Myanmar, and it is easy for insurgent groups to penetrate the state through the jungle route.

“We are monitoring every activity in the border area. Our force has been ready to thwart any threat from the rebel groups,” said the official.
