DIBRUGARH:

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel led by Assistant Commandant Paotinthang, conducted a plantation drive in the Nampong area and planted over 1000 saplings within the campus and the surrounding areas of Nampong Township of Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday.

"The plantation was also carried out alongside the highway running through the township. The personnel of D/171 BN of CRPF have already planted over 1500 saplings of trees in the township area in the past, under the 'plantation drive programme' of HQ. 171 BN CRPF Dibrugarh, Assam," the CRPF said in a press statement.

Through the plantation of trees along the highway, the CRPF aims to reduce noise as well as air pollution, which ultimately will result in a healthy atmosphere and environment, the Paramilitary force said.

Apart from pollution control, the trees will provide shade to pedestrians and also beautify the highway within the township area under the Jairampur sub-division.

The local community-based organizations of the Jairampur administrative subdivision have extended their gratefulness to 171 BN CRPF for planting more than 2500 saplings and contributing to making the area green.
