Arunachal: Five shuttlers selected for World Senior Badminton Championship
The Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA), on Wednesday, held a programme in the MLA Cottage badminton stadium to felicitate the female shuttlers from Arunachal Pradesh who have been selected for World Senior Badminton Championship.
The championship is being organised by the Badminton World Federation, and is scheduled to be held in Huelva, Spain, from November 28 to December 4, 2021.
The five shuttlers – Boni Yapu (39), Pema Ladon (46), Taw Yania (45), Yase Bagang (37) and Mepung Pangia (42) – were selected following a national-level competition held at Navelim, Goa, from September 19 to 26, 2021, the ASBA informed.
Around 20,000 players from across the country had participated in the selection tournament, and the five athletes above were among those selected from Arunachal Pradesh.
“The ASBA will provide assistance in training so that they can be prepared for the world tournament”, said Bamang Tago, Chairman, Arunachal Olympic Association.
