PASIGHAT:

Following the nationwide protest of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) against the spiralling rise in the price of petrol and diesel, the District Congress Committee (DCC) of East Siang District, along with the Block Congress Committee (BCC) of Mebo and Ruksin, staged protests at various locations of East Siang District on Friday.

DCC President, Oni Tamuk led the protest at Pasighat in front of M/s Mamang Borang Service Station along with Odang Moyong, President 38th Block Congress Committee, including executives of City Congress Committee.

The protest at DCC Mebo was led by Secretary, Karo Moyong and Natung Tayeng, while the protest at DCC Ruksin was led by Aarong Perme.

Meanwhile, mass gatherings and groups of more than ten members were not allowed, owing to the COVID protocols.

DCC President, Tamuk believed that due to the exponential and unprecedented rise in the price of Petrol and Diesel, the prices of basic commodities have risen multiple times, affecting the general masses, especially the poor.

Further, price rise also makes it unavoidable for the transporter to hike the transportation cost, which ultimately pushes the price of the commodities in the market.

Besides, the protest primarily obliged the government to lower the price of petrol and diesel.
