Dinesh Mongia, a former Indian cricketer has been appointed as the state head coach by the Arunachal Cricket Association (ACA) for the upcoming domestic season of 2021-22, ACA secretary Geda Kabak announced on Monday.
"Being a former international cricketer of the modern era, he brings a lot of experience with him and our players are looking forward to learning from him," Kabak said.
Mongia said that he has to create a formula to make the aspiring cricketers understand what real cricket is. "There will be a challenge for sure. These young players are slightly lagging behind, so with my experience and knowledge, I will help these guys improve their game," he said.
"Arunachal and some northeast states don’t have very good infrastructure right now, but I need to get them to the ground and get the results," he added.
44-year-old Mongia had retired from all forms of cricket in 2019. This will be his first senior-level coaching assignment and he is looking forward to it.
