Arunachal approves 3-pronged strategy to fight drug menace in the state

There will be a synchronised effort in the fight against substance abuse with the formation of a state-level authority headed by the chief minister, and district-level committees.

In an effort to fight drug menace in the north-eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh, the state cabinet on Friday approved a three-pronged strategy.

According to a press release, the cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, approved the Arunachal Pradesh Policy on Psychoactive Substances 2021-26. This policy will emphasise supply reduction, demand reduction, and harm reduction.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, the chief minister wrote, "An all out war on Drug Abuse, State cabinet in a historic decision today approved Arunachal Pradesh Policy on Psychoactive Substances 2021-26’ to fight Drug Menace."

He said that based on the three pillars of supply, demand & harm reduction, it aims for a systematic approach to deal with the menace.

The release further mentioned that there will be a synchronised effort in the fight against substance abuse with the formation of a state-level authority headed by the chief minister, and district-level committees.
