Tripura: Border Security Force to host tournaments for under 17 FIFA World Cup

AGARTALA, April 24: Like other Central armed forces, BSF Tripura Frontier to host under 19 football talent hunt tournament in the state from May 1 next to select under 17 FIFA World Cup Football tournament scheduled in October next year.

In the 10 days event, BSF would host eight teams each of boys and girls in the first phase of tournament and after subsequent success in second and third phase tournaments, they would represent India in FIFA World Cup.

BSF Tripura Frontier IG U C Saringi after releasing logo and Muscat of the event OORJA -2017 said here today that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to host FIFA World Cup for teenagers for the first time in the country to involve 11 million boys and girls in playing football.

The tournament was aimed to create fervour among the youths towards football and to select promising players to represent India in Asian Championship and recruit emerging players in central armed police force.
