The 5 best players from the Northeast in the ISL

There is no denying that the Northeast has become the best scouting ground for football in the country. There are an innumerable number of players who are making a name for themselves. Here is a list of five who are arguably not only the best in the Northeast but the rest of the country.

Jeje Lalpekhlua-Quickly growing as one of the best footballers in the country, the striker for Mizoram currently plays for powerhouse club Mohun Bagan in the I-League. Last season he played for Chennaiyin FC in the ISL and this year he will yet again be a part of the 2015 Champions side.

Eugeneson Lyngdoh– Known as the midfield maestro in the country, the player from Shillong currently plays for I-League Champions Bengaluru FC. He will be part of Pune City FC in the upcoming season of the Indian Super League. He will however join the ISL side only after the AFC Cup as Bengaluru have advanced into the quarter final stage.

Jackichand Singh– Jackichand exploded into the Indian football scene during his time at Royal Wahingdoh with his stellar performance at the club. The winger from Manipur has since then been capped for the national team and was part of Pune City FC last season. This season he has signed with Mumbai City FC

Aiborlang Khongjee– Aibor is one of the most sought after defenders and has been capped by the Indian National Team multiple times. He currently plays for Shillong Lajong FC in the I-League. He played for ISL side NEUFC last season but this season, he will be joining Jackichand at Mumbai City FC. He is one of the fan favourites in the region.

Lalchhuanmawia Fanai– One of the best Left backs in the country, the player from Mizoram plays for I-League Champions Bengaluru FC. In the ISL, he plays for Mumbai City FC and will join the squad only after the AFC Cup ends.
