Olympics: Dipa Karmakar wanted just one thing from the govt

Dipa Karmakar has proved again why she is heads and shoulders above the rest as this young gymnast from Tripura turned down an offer from the Sports Authority of India who offered to give her Rs 30 lakhs as assistance. They also offered to train her anywhere in the world but Dipa politely refused and the only request she had was that SAI provide her with the state of the art vault which is being used by top gymnasts in the world.

She will be competing with top athletes from across the world at Sunday's finals and most of the other gymnasts have been groomed for success by their countries whereas Dipa has had to endure immense hardships and rejection for being "flatfooted."
