NEUFC keeps top 4 hopes alive with 3-3 draw against Chennaiyin

A thriller on Saturday night saw Northeast draw 3-3 against defending champions Chennaiyin FC. This is more or less the final nail in the coffin for the champions who have just 15 points from 13 matches.

NEUFC also have the same number of points but have two more games to go while Chennai have one final one.

Chennaiyin's Dudu scored a hat-trick but sadly this was not enough to gather them a win. Nico Velez was amazing for Northeast as he scored a brace. The final goal for the Highlanders came in the dying minutes of the game with a header from Shouvik Ghosh.

This saw the hosts with a disbelief of disappointment as they fail to make it to the play-offs.
