Motorsports enthusiasts to battle the terrains of Meghalaya during the AHOR 4×4 Off-road Challenge

SHILLONG, August 17, 2017:  The moment has arrived! The adrenaline rush has yet again forced its way to the terrains of Meghalaya! An off-road challenge is what makes motorsports one of the most sought after adventure sports not only the state but the entire Northeast region.

After years of relentless efforts by motorsports enthusiasts of Meghalaya to push this adventure sporting activity to a whole new level, events such as these are increasing in popularity and fan-following both males and females.

To further provide an opportunity for enthusiasts to battle the tough terrains, the muddy lanes, the bumpy roads of Meghalaya, the Adventurous Hynñiewtrep Offroaders (AHOR), an off-road team from Meghalaya will be hosting an "AHOR 4×4 Off-road Challenge" on September 1 and 2 at Kharsati Park, Ri Bhoi district.

This will be the first ever natural track event in the State, it will have 6 stages. "Our track will attract more participants since we will be having a night track Challenge where mostly river crossing, mud slushing and vertical slopes will be covered," said general secretary of the organizing body, Demetrius Onel Kharkrang.

It was expected that over 30 participants will take part in this event where the entry fee is fixed at Rs 5000. The winner will take away Rs 50,000, first runners up will take home Rs 30,000 and Rs 15,000 for the second runners up.

"This is an open category. This event will be all about speed and skills of the Driver and Co-Driver," added Onel.

It was also informed that campsites will be provided to all participants; however, they have to bring their own tents adding that dinner, breakfast and lunch will be provided by organizers for participants only.
