Meghalaya: Two martial arts gold medalists to be felicitated by Guv on Dec 1

Two local youth who recently bagged Gold medals for the country in the two different international martial arts events will be felicitated by Meghalaya Governor Ganga Prasad at a public function to be held in Shillong on December 1.

The duo — Pynshai Mawrie and Sanbor Lyngdoh Nongpuir from Meghalaya brought laurels to the country and the state in the international platforms by winning gold in different categories.

While Pynshai won top honours in 48 kg weight category at Uzbekistan, Sanbor picked up gold in the same category of Asian meet at Pattaya in Thailand last week.

The function is being organised by Ardhendu Chaudhuri Charitable Trust which has been devoted to serving the needy communities since 2005.

On this occasion, the Trust will hand over BPL Cards to 500 struggling families which will enable them to obtain fixed quantity of certain essential commodities for the next 12 months. The scheme will cost over Rs 25 lakh to the Trust.

Some educational institutions, sports bodies and social organisations  will also receive computers and financial support on this occasion.
