After toiling and preparing for over a year, Meghalaya cop's dream of representing India at an international arena, which almost turned into a reality, however, dashed to the ground, after his Visa was rejected due to lack of documents and insufficient funds.

A constable from the 1st Meghalaya Police Battalion Prosonto Basumatary who recently made headlines for being the first bodybuilder from Meghalaya to represent the country at the International Stage of Body Building for the title of Mr Universe which was recently held at Budapest, Hungary from November 18-20, is left disappointed at the last moment when he learnt that his Visa was rejected due to many reasons.

"First, it is because of insufficient funds in my bank account and secondly, the authorities said it was because of lack of documents," Prosonto said adding he got the information about the rejected Visa very late. "Had I received the news sooner, I would have arranged for something," he lamented.

A dishearten Prosonto said that since this is the first time that got the chance to represent the country in an international platform, his knowledge about the process of acquiring a Visa or passport is also very limited. "I don't know properly how to go about it, I had asked a travel agent to arrange a Visa for me," he stated.

Meanwhile, sources informed that Prosonto had applied for a tourist Visa instead of a Sports Visa. "Had he applied for a sports Visa, maybe the authorities concerned could have intervened, but since he applied for a tourist visa, there are rules regarding the sum of money one has to have in his bank account," the source informed.
