Meghalaya: Boys from state win gold in Jeet-Kune-do Championships held in Sri Lanka

SHILLONG: The popularity of martial arts has immensely increased in Meghalaya and two boys who have brought home gold from multiple national events have now not only made the state proud but also the country.

Lamphrang Kharsahnoh (51kg- Full contact) and Pynnehbor Mylliemngap (45kg- Full contact), both from the village of Smit which is just outside of Shillong won gold at the recently concluded Asian Jeet-Kune-do Championships which was held in Kandy, Sri Lanka from October 14 to 16. Pynnehbor also bagged the silver medal in the form (routine) competition. They were accompanied by Coach Donny Ranee who has done incredible work with the boys. Despite having huge crunch funds, they have been able to excel in the sport with the Coach's support who trains the boys at his house.

Donny Ranee who is the founder of the Jeet Kune-do in Meghalaya was also the Head Judge at the Championships.
