Manipur: Saikhom Mirabai Chanu to represent India at Rio Olympics

Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, a silver medalist in weight lifting at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games will be representing India at the upcoming Rio Olympics. She broke the national record which was set by herself by lifting 1 kg more (85 kg) and equalled Kunjarani Devi's clean and jerk lift of 107 kg. Her combined lift was 192 kg which was 2 more than the record.

There are eight athletes from the Northeast who are fighting for medals at the Olympics. Six of the eight are from Manipur.
