IWL 2017-18: Manipur team Eastern Sporting Union to battle Rising Student Club in league finals

The semi-finals of the Hero Indian Women's League took place on Thursday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong. The day saw Rising Student Club defeat Kangchup Road Young Physical & Sports Association (KRYHPSA) while defending champions Eastern Sporting Union (ESU) beat Sethu FC.

The first match was evenly contested and after the full 90 minutes ending in 0-0, the game went on to extra time and a penalty shootout where Rising came up on top (4-3). In the other semi final match, Eastern Sporting Union had emerged victorious over Sethu FC by a 3-0 margin with Kamala Devi finishing as one of the tournament's top scorers (15 goals). This match also went on to extra time with a stalemate after 90 minutes but goals from Prameshwori Devi (99') and Mandakini Devi (105') ensured that ESU would see yet another league final.

The finals will now see Eastern Sporting Union take on Rising Student Club on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 4 pm. With the conclusion of the tournament, the Meghalaya Football Association invites all football lovers of the state to come cheer for the teams. The tournament is free and open to all.
