ISL: NEUFC’s bad run continue as Mumbai City beat them yet again

 |

NEUFC started the match sitting sixth on the table with 10 points. The Highlanders will hope to record a win after no wins in 3 wins. The Northeast side are without Nico Velez or Subrata Paul and take on a very strong and consistent Mumbai City FC.

A nervy start for Northeast as Jackichand almost puts one in at the 6th minute.

Mumbai have looked more threatening in the first twenty  minutes with Northeast conceding free kick after free kick.

Northeast had a great chance in the 19th minute with great play from Northeast but Narzary misfires and misses the target completely.

Northeast are playing well in the first half with brilliant play from Katsumi and Alfaro who are combining well. The Mumbai defence has stood still with the keeper doing the needed.

The first half has been good with both sides pressing well but a big mistake from Northeast keeper cost them as Jackichand puts one at the back of the net in the 45th minute. Instead of just clearing the ball, the keeper tries to be too clever which puts the home team behind going into the break.

Mumbai City start the second half with the same momentum as they had in the first. Jackichand has been good to watch throughout the game. Northeast appeals for a penalty are ignored and Alfaro receives a yellow card for diving.

The referee hardly has given any of the fouls. Nervy moments for Mumbai City as the home side presses hard around the 75th minute.

However the Mumbai defence stays solid and thwart all efforts of the Northeast side.

Northeast cannot find a break as they cannot break through the Mumbai defence. The second half has been dominated by Mumbai with NEUFC's run of bad luck continuing as they yet again lose by a single goal.
