Javelin star Neeraj Chopra wins first gold for India at Tokyo Olympics

It's gold for India at the Tokyo Olympics! Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra becomes the first-ever athlete, representing India in 100 years, to win an Olympic gold medal in track and field.

Chopra topped the Men's javelin throw scoreboard with a throw of 87.58 metres. 

Neeraj Chopra became the second Indian to get an Olympic gold after Abhinav Bindra.

"Unprecedented win by Neeraj Chopra! Your javelin gold breaks barriers and creates history. You bring home the first-ever track and field medal to India in your first Olympics. Your feat will inspire our youth. India is elated! Heartiest congratulations!" President Ram Nath Kovind tweeted.
