PARIS:

The French Tennis Federation (FFT) has postponed the 2021 French Open, also known as Roland-Garros, one week ahead of the previously fixed schedule.

Initially, the clay-court Grand Slam event was supposed to begin on May 23 but now the tournament will be held from May 30.

The hold-up will also help organisers concentrate on getting more people to attend the tournament.

We may note that last year's French Open was delayed by four months and held in September.
