Football: India to host international match against much higher ranked Puerto Rico

The much anticipated match that football fans are talking about across the country will take place on September 3. India will take on much higher ranked Puerto Rico(114). The match will take place in Mumbai and will be the first official international match in 61 years, the last being in 1955.

India has underperformed in most of its international matches and it will be interesting to see how they match up against the Carribean side. Coach Stephen Constantine has stated that the bigger cities in India should be equipped to host national teams.

India has come up with the name of 28 players all of whom represent the best of what the country has to offer.

Goalkeepers: Subrata Paul, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Amrinder Singh.

Defenders: Rino Anto, Sandesh Jhingan, Arnab Mondal, Keegan Pereira, Chinglensana Singh, Pritam Kotal, Fulganco Cardoza, Narayan Das.

Midfielders: Eugeneson Lyngdoh, Vinit Rai, Jackichand Singh, Dhanpal Ganesh, Issac Vanmalsawma, Pronay Halder, Udanta Singh, Halicharan Nazary, Bikash Jairu, Md Rafique, Germanpreet Singh, Rowlin Borges, Alwyn George, Arjun Tudu.

Forwards: Jeje Lalpekhlua, Sunil Chhetri and Sumeet Passi.
