Football: Boy from Nagaland to play in Gothia Cup Sweden

 |

Nagaland which is not known for football has something to look forward to as a young player from the state will play at the Gothia Cup Sweden which will be held from July 17 to 24. The selection process was long and gruelling but 20-year old Lanvungthung Khuvung has been selected by Real Sports Association. The young player was spotted while he was playing for the under 18 nationals as captain of the Sagar School in Rajasthan.

He is currently doing his graduation from Christ University in Bangalore. He heard about the tournament and the try outs which was happening in Delhi and decided to give it a go. He is extremely proud to be selected to represent the country at the Cup.

He is one of very few Nagas to make a name for himself in the world of football and even though his state lacks all amenities and basic infrastructure to help young players, his hard work and dedication is starting to pay off.

Lanvungthung Khuvung is the son of late AE Lotha, the former Special Secretary to the NLA.
