Football: AIFF extends date for tenders for new I-League clubs

 |

The All India Football Federation has invited tenders from all interested clubs in the country for the upcoming season of the I-League.

The season will begin on January 7 and the winners of the bid will pitch a team for the league. This has been done in order to promote the sport and also increase competition within the league. The new clubs will get a chance to also take part in Asian Football Confederation competitions.

Hopefully this will give a chance for more clubs from the Northeast take part in the League. The region which boasts the most number of footballers in the country currently has just two teams in the league- Shillong Lajong FC and Aizawl FC.

The deadline for the tenders has been extended to November 19. So far Minerva Academy FC and FC Bardez Goa have submitted their bids.
