Football: 9-year old Assam boy selected to train in Germany

Chandan Boro, a son of a garbage collector and tea shop helper will have his life changed forever as the direction it is now moving will help him live his dream. The 9-year from Udalguri district has been selected to train at TSG Hoffenheim, a club in the Bundesliga.

Chandan, a nine-year-old footballer from Harisinga, was selected in a camp organised at Kokrajhar by the Tata Trust, Mumbai, under the football development program in partnership with U Sports Mumbai and Germany under U Dream Football for selection of football talents under 15.

Five others had been selected alongside Chandan for a final phase of the selections, in which Chandan pipped his competitors to land a ticket for Germany.

Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit while congratulating Chandan and presenting him an appreciation certificate and a memento at the Raj Bhawan said, "I congratulate on your achievement and I hope you will go a long way and add many feathers of success by overcoming all hurdles. Through hard work and dedication you will reach the zenith of success."

The story of Chandan is one which will encourage young players all over the country and especially from small towns and villages to take up football seriously.
