FIFA U-17 Update: Empty stands in sold out Guwahati matches

Guwahati Oct 8,2017: With nearly half the stands empty in Guwahati, as in most other venues of FIFA U-17 World Cup matches in other cities, the organisers were forced to give a clarification for empty seats in the 'sold out' matches.

The Local Organising Committee, in a media statement, said, "All the tickets that have been put up for sale, are the maximum number of tickets that can be sold at each venue discounting below mentioned commitments. When a venue appears sold out, it reflects the position of tickets that have been put out for sale."

Tickets are given as per contractual obligations with the Hosting Association, all the participating teams, all the 13 commercial partners of the Tournament, the host broadcaster, the signatories of host city, stadium and training site agreements and other stakeholders. The receivers of complimentary tickets apparently did not turn for the matches,leaving half empty stands.
