Who said Meghalaya is only about Football. Well, International Kickboxer and World No. 5 Ranking Hameshaniah Suiam proved it wrong!

This young athlete who hails from Shangpung in West Jaintia Hills and currently resides in Shillong created history way back in 2014 when he became the first person from Meghalaya to secure a title in Pro National Kickboxing Championship.

In 2017, Suiam was selected to represent the country in the WAKO World Senior Kickboxing Championship 2017 in Budapest, Hungary from November 2 to 12, 2017. Though he lost to World No 2 – Rodulov Borislav from Bulgaria in the quarterfinals, Suiam made his way to attaining the 5th spot in the WAKO world rankings.

This is not it! Suiam is also an International Referee & Judge in Kickboxing with Black Belt 1st Dan (Rank). He is being acknowledged as Kickboxing Coach for Subjunior Team of India.

21-year-old Suiam, who has 4 national medals to his credit — 3 gold and 1 bronze as early as 2008, as travelled the world exhibiting his skills and competing with top kick boxers from across the globe since 2014.

Presently, Suiam is accompanying the team from the Meghalaya State Kickboxing Association (MSKA) to take part at the upcoming WAKO India Federation Cup 2017-18 of Cadets, Juniors & Seniors Kickboxing Tournament to be held at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi from the 16th-20th January, 2018.
