SPORTS | JUNE 18, 2020:

The Champions League and Europa League are all set to resume in August with the last eight games in Lisbon, Portugal and cities across Germany.

"The 2019-20 UEFA Champions League will resume on August 7. The quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will be played as a straight knockout tournament in Lisbon and Portugal in August. All these ties will be single-leg fixtures," the UEFA said in a statement.

"However, a decision is pending on whether the four remaining round of 16-second leg will take place at the home team's stadium or in Portugal," it added.

It may be mentioned that the Champions League has been on hold since March 11 owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, after a long hiatus, the Premier League returned to action on Wednesday with a clash between Sheffield United and Aston Villa followed by a match between Manchester City and Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.

As Sheffield United and Aston Villa played out a goalless draw, Manchester City restarted their campaign in style by securing a thumping 3-0 win over Arsenal. It may be mentioned that the Spanish LaLiga and German Bundesliga are already underway after being suspended in March due to the health crisis.
