Assam’s Shiva Thapa wins gold at first Elite Boxing Championship

GUWAHATI: Olympian Shiva Thapa proved once again why is one of the best boxers in the country as he defeated Haryana's Ankush Dahiya 5-0 to take home the gold.

The first ever Elite Boxing Championship which was held in Guwahati was a grand success and helps move the sport along as it continues to grow in popularity.

Boxer from Manipur L Devendro Singh however suffered a shock defeat to Chandigarg's Deepak Singh. This was a great upset as Devendro is not only an Olympian but a silver medallist in the Asian Championships.

Devendro did not look his best throughout the fight and was upstaged by the 20-year-old.
