Zubeen Garg to work with GCFC for upliftment of football scene

Guwahati, September, 18, 2017 : Zubeen Garg has recently expressed that he will work with Guwahati city Football (GCFC) to uplift Assam as well as Indian football in coming days and will take initiative with the club to find out and nurture local talents who can represent the country in near future.

Flamingo FC of Guwahati has won the The second season of IO-Plus Guwahati Futsal Festival's senior championship by defeating NEFIANS FC of Guwahati in an entertaining final battle. The final on September 16th evening saw a thrilling battle of futsal skills by two of the tournament's most exciting teams. Both the teams showed valiant display of some breathtaking talents of attack throughout the game. But with two goals from player of the tournament as well as top scorer Ritwik Pathak gave Flamingo a deserved win after the scheduled time of play.  There were a total of 32 futsal teams across north-east in the event organized by Guwahati City FC (GCFC) in association with Sportcraft Management, of which four were from Manipur and one was from Sikkim. But the teams from Guwahati outshined their Manipuri and Sikkimese counterparts in some exciting knock out battles.

For the first time, U-13 championship was also organized in this two days of futsal encounters where  two teams of Manipur took part and showcased some extraordinary futsal. In the end, again two teams from the city reached the final and Titanium FC defeated Assam Rhinos FC in another close encounter, said club director Kaustab Chakrabarty in a press statement.

The tournament's best player award went to Flamingo's fearsome striker Ritwik Pathak and best goalkeeper award went to another Flamingo player Rish of Ramdasow. The event was supported by Narayana Super Specialty Hospital, Egua and Gup-Shup 94.3 FM also had a freestyle football competition where Raj Kumar Limboo from Sikkim's Red Panda Boys won the title.

Zubeen Garg with his 'Mission China Comrades' graced the closing ceremony and played a futsal match against GCFC management, where the popular artist scored twice to make the match a tight one. Eventually GCFC management won the match by the score line of 4-3. Actors Vivek, Sattyakee d'com Bhuyan, composer Ajay Phukan also participated in the exhibition match on behalf of Zubeen's team. After the match Zubeen told media that he will work with GCFC to uplift Assam as well as Indian football in coming days and will take initiative with the club to find out and nurture local talents who can represent the country in near future.
