Assam: Ulfa(I) lauds efforts to revive football in state
The Bordoloi Cup is almost at its conclusion with the finals up. East Bengal pipped Shillong Lajong to enter the finals with a 1-0 win over the Shillong side. The 64th edition of the cup is being held in Guwahati and militant group Ulfa(I) have come out supporting efforts which are being made to promote sport in the state.
The group expressed how sports have become a viable economical choice for players and investors and the revival of the Bordoloi Cup is the correct step to help bring about growth in the region. The group however do not support the use of Bollywood stars to popularize football which has become evident as the opening ceremony of the ISL to be held on Saturday will see a number of stars at the event.
