Assam: National Boxing Championships to be held in state

GUWAHATI: At a time when boxing is growing in popularity and Guwahati to witness the first ever Pro boxing Fight Nights from January onward, another boxing event to look forward to will be held from December 8 to 13 at the Tarun Ra, Phoonkan Indoor Stadium.

The newly formed Boxing Federation of India made this announcement.

The Elite Men's National Boxing Championship will see several big names of boxing take part along with Olympians Manoj Kumar, L.Devendro Singh and Assam boy Shiva Thapa to name a few.

The Northeast in recent years has generated many great athletes with names from Mary Kom to Shiva Thapa in boxing.

The move to give Guwahati first hosting rights will only promote boxing even more in the region.
