Assam: Barsapara stadium in Guwahati to host India-Australia T20 International

GUWAHATI, August 2: Act East is what the BJP led government is looking forward too and starting it with the most loved game in the country CRICKET, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday announced that newly-constructed stadium in Barsapara area of Guwahati will host Twenty20 International against Australia during India's home season this year.

Confirming the news, ACA secretary Pradip Buragohain said, "Guwahati will be hosting the maiden T20I, probably on October 10 against Australia."

Buragohain has further informed that BCCI has already intimated ACA regarding the allotment of the match during the visitors' three T20I match series, "Accordingly, from now onwards the whole ACA team will have to work round the clock in order to complete all the remaining works at the Barsapara stadium."

"Besides, media centre and players' pavilions, the major task for the organisers is to complete the approach roads to the stadium and arrange adequate space for car parking," he stated, adding, "This match will be a beginning for us and after this T20I Guwahati will get to host ODIs and even test matches in the near future."
